Video Preview: Queen In-Hyun’s Man Episode 13
Anyone have a vid for this? I can’t find one.
Here is the translation anyway.
Hee-Jin: The ancestor… the world’s most beautiful woman…
Hee-Jin on the phone: Hello. Sun-soo? (Hello? My player?)
Hee-Jin pretending to be Boong-Do: How are you?
Na-Jeong to Hee-Jin: Dear Queen. How could you cheat on the King? You’re the best.
The King: We will re-investigate what happened last time. Capture Kim Boong-Do who has committed a capital punishment!
Someone screams: Armed men!
Kim Boong-Do is shot with an arrow.
Wow. Just wow. I don’t even know what to say anymore.

watching the short preview makes my heartbeat so fast especially seeing BD got shot by the arrow. I hope he survive the shot and manage to escape to the modern world 😦
I don’t like how he didn’t disappear before that arrow went in.
He definitley wasn’t holding the amulet anywhere on him…biting nails….
me too. I was hoping he would disappear but like you said I guess he didnt have the amulet with him at that time and was worried also strange thing is happening like the king who is upset with BD and opening the investigation against him 😦 cant wait for next week 😦
I didn’t get it either (like he’s smart, right?, and must carry the amulet with him all the time), butI think madsu (comment @7:55 below) hit the nail on the head.
The arrow has to be a KILL shot (remember when Boong Do was instructing Han Dong?). So something that just badly, badly injures him will not transport him 300 years forward, even if he has the amulet on his person. 😦
Sharp thinking, Madsu!, but OUCH it has me nervous for the next week’s episodes.
Omo! Maybe they shot him twice! The first arrow just meant to hurt him badly and the other one shot thru the heart. Remember when he was bleeding while time travelling to Jejudo on episode 6? So he’ll be arrived on 2012, badly injured and dying, and died on 2012 instead *shakes head*
That’s right tarianant! The arrow that grazed his head kept on bleeding when he was in 2012; he had to find medicine to treat it himself.
tarianant, Spot On! There were two archers who shot at him. We only saw the first arrow that badly wounded him. Possibly the second arrow will transport him to 2012. Phew! I can watch again.
But I think that is exactly Min an and co is planning, they know they can’t kill him in Joseon, so they’ll transport him to the future in grave condition, hoping he’ll die in the future.. T__T
Ah, evil genius. The original injury would be fatal in most ages without antibiotics, blood transfusion and extremely complicated surgery. Good thing BD already gave her all that money. Will come in handy for the treatment.
Ahh you’re right! Min’am couldn’t even imagine what kind of world he’ll be sending Boong-do to. “A Very nice World” quoting Boong-do in Episode 4
Now if he would only have amnesia after treatment and forget all about Joseon era, #Sigh#, wouldn’t that be just perfect?
It’s not good to disappear with that many people around him. But it’s even worse if ……….. I don’t know what to say……. let next week come… I trust the writer wholeheartedly by now!
oh my he was shot by the arrow.. i knew he wont die here because he is the protagonist here . there are only 3 episode left. i hope they will extend it to two more episodes
hmm…is this what javabeans meant when she said…”… is Fate powered by incredible inertia, where most of the time you end up where you were headed all along, despite small fluctuations in the details?” Maybe this is where BD “dies” in Joseon but comes back to life in the present. I’m taking that as a good sign *crosses fingers and starts praying*
I’m hanging on that note !!!
I don’t want him to die >___<
Why the arrows seems soo big to me right know! Even when I was watching saeguk dramas, the arrows haven't seemed to me so disproportionate to a human body !
i have 4 hypothesis, 4. one is my favourite by the way, because it is the craziest:
1) BD knew what was going to happen and since Minister Min and Ja Soo know about the amulet and would try to prove others that he is using some kind of magic to make BD lose credit, creditability and be sentenced to capital punishment for the installment of sorcerey, they would attack him in the broad daylight in front of everyone, where he would vanish into thin air, point proven, BD exiled for good. So BD sensed it and wore an arrow-proof vest inside, some kind of polsters, peds, filling, which might prevent him being pierced by the arrow or sword deadly. That’s why he didn’t disappear after being shot.
2) BD decided to live in the past, so got rid of the amulet. (i don’t think so, but it might be a possibility.)
3) The amulet is lost, got stolen or destroyed, so it couldn’t serve his master at the critical point of the assasination.
4) What BD did in the past to change or let’s say accelerate the history, has changed the future. Based on the karmic balance of the drama, action-reaction, cause-effect, we may think that what he did in the future may have reverse effects on the past. Like Dong Min/King feels dejected by his Queen/HJ, because she is “two-timing”, cheating on him with BD who is Queen In Hyun Wang Hoo’s/HJ’s man, and suggests the director to kill of HJ’s character, maybe the King in the Joseon era got the idea or heard from someone/somewhere, that the night Minister Min was outed, got arrested, his Queen has had a secret meeting with BD for which the King himself also was kept in the dark. So with the mindset of DM, the Joseon era King might as well think of his recently re-crowned Queen is cheating on him with Queen In Hyun’s Man, who helped her being reinstated, getting rid of her rival Jang Hee Bin, securing his position back in the palace again.
So take your pick 😉
love the 4th ah ah ! It doesn’t match the time-travelling base, but whatever, it’s not really scientist here, it’s a mystical base ^^;
Good thoughts dedicated..
1) The arrow seemed to go through him, so body armor, not likely.
2) That would be a grave turn around from the current episode.
3)Likely. YI may have taken it back to keep him in the past, though he would not be so calm if his only link with HJ disappeared after he was planning to buy a house and settle down in the future.
4) Scary.. scary… and unfortunately, very possible. Shivers..
Perhaps he cannot carry the amulet with him to the palace as he can be searched there. In the first episode they made him leave the sword at the gate. That is why he was defenseless in the hall of the scrolls.
your 4th Hypothesis is logical. coz seeing the preview where the King thrown an order to catch BD is something i can’t think of why, except the fact that maybe the BD “secret meeting” w/the queen in her room is trigger some “cheating rumour” in the palace. except than that reason, i really can’t think of Any.
I was afraid of exactly this. He can move only if the attack is fatal. Something that just injures him can incapacitate without letting him escape. So letting him live begins the end of his life.
And what is wrong with the King? What is he investigating BD for now? Did he come to know of the secret meeting between him and the Queen? Or is it the original murder again?
I don’t think I can watch 13 if it stops with him getting an arrow in his ribs. What is with this drama? He has been slashed on his chest and shoulder, got locked in a shower, escaped two flying kicks, was almost run over by a car, took an arrow to his temple, now one through the chest? Not counting all the fatal ones.. Never seen a drama so intent on getting rid of its lead character. Aaahhhh!
“He has been slashed on his chest and shoulder, got locked in a shower, escaped two flying kicks, was almost run over by a car, took an arrow to his temple, now one through the chest? Not counting all the fatal ones.. Never seen a drama so intent on getting rid of its lead character. Aaahhhh!”
hahahahahaha….. omg…. the way you put it is so funny…
hahaha agree.. it is funny in a way. btw, good thinking Madsu
Sharp observation skills! Yeah, he didn’t transport because an arrow to the ribs doesn’t kill instantly…aaauggh.
Also, I loved that you wrote that all that wasn’t even counting all the fatal ones.
Thanks JC. Just remembered something. The letter the King was reading was probably an anonymous letter telling him that KBD and the Queen are off on a tryst somewhere. They are both not in the palace at the same time.Minister is framing them.
I knew the Queens speaking up for him (stopping the wedding) would come back to bite them.
Hmmm, interesting idea! That would mean that Minister Min was turning Boong Do’s own techniques (anonymous letter) against him. On a side note, I wish the king wasn’t so easily manipulated. He’s surrounded by plotters and can’t seem to judge character.
Makes it impossible for him to return to Joseon safely.
The words capital punishment that keep appearing, I am reading as high treason.
hmm yes, that’s a clever idea. Minister Min is such an experienced schemer, BD is a toddler compared to him. Remember Min framed and killed BD’s father, mother, pregnant wife and saved him from the death blow, cause he thought, with broken wings he wouldn’t be harmful, as to why Jang Hee Bin couldn’t understand and was for getting rid of BD at the time of his weakest? i think Jang Hee Bin was right, from my experience of watching so many dramas, you should never let your enemy survive after serving him a fatal blow, because the come back of the injured enemy finishes you off! That was the grave mistake of Min but without that mistake there woouldn’t be any drama for us to watch, so i am thankful for that mistake 😉
now that Min knows what hidden card BD has thanks to the investigations of JS, Min has the upper hand. He said in the prison to JS that they shouldn’t kill BD, that if he is in his birth village on a visit as rumoured, which they he isn’t actually, that gives them 5 days of time, in which he shouldn’t appear in the capital, the Queen is also not on the palace grounds due to family visit, there you go: instigate an exmarital immoral cheating rumour between the two to spite the king, who is a two-timer himself, with the reinstated Queen and Jang. Saying goes that a person judges the others based on his own character, so the King will think of the Queen and BD as cheaters. Given the fact that the Queen wasn’t keen of the idea of BD’s marriage to that heavenly beauty, so was BD distracted in thoughts, BD aided the Queen all the time endangering his life, there you go: there are enough motives for the King to believe what Min baked and served him.
Yes, dedicated.. To add on points from another discussion, YW may have been instrumental in protecting BD from Min An the first time around as well. Though we don’t know about that for sure, it is a line of thought. Min An may have suggested that she become a gisaeng, and she may have agreed provided BD was excluded from capital punishment. Don’t know how she would have that kind of pull with the guy, but I am thinking that in any era, you need strong backers to become a leading entertainer.Pure, wild and unadulterated speculation ofcourse.
dedicated, just read your post in detail again. Excellent analysis of the situation. As they say, BD’s goose looks well and truly cooked. He is making all these plans with HJ assuming that In Hyun is finally safe, and that his job is done. What a shock he is going to get when he gets back. Min An is indeed a master strategist.
for those of you who dont wat SPOILERS! DO NOT READ THIS! ::
There was a source somewhere from fb QIM that he safely arrives in the modern world and Hee Jin is with him in the ambulance until the hospital when he bacame severely injured which i gather came from this arrow shot preview…sigh…just two more weeks of them and then ill have to find another drama that can compete with this, but i doubt if there will be for awhile.sigh…for the meantime, DIE DOMG MIN DIE!!! XD
kow tow. waaaah.. Thank you.
i don’t mind spoilers hehe. thanks Kaycee (=
Yup. That would tie in nicely with idea 4 by dedicated in the previous message. It is only natural to trigger the suspicion. BD has an undying devotion to the Queen as the leader of the Noron(Scholar) faction. The King knows this very well. The only question is whether this devotion is even slightly reciprocated. And as all women in this forum will attest, this Civil Services exam topper with kewl martial arts skills who smiles like that is a dangerous rival in any era.
yeah, hell yeah, he is dangerous rival in any era with his knowledge, courage, martial arts skills, intelligence, height, smile, devotion, noblety, youth, humbleness,… to cut the list short – because if i go on, i don’t know if the pages will be enough 😉 – the king may have feel jealousy, he is a man afterall, and the king at that, who thinks he has the right to have many concubines, but they are supposed to be faithful to him. Plus he has abondened Queen In Hyun for five years, inflicted pain on her or let Jang hurt her, and after five years he tells her only he is happy to see her safe, it must have been hard on her all these years, and the woman just tells she has loved him anyway. their relationship needs lots of mending, so in the meantime when the King was not biy her side, BD may have vacated his spot. Like a by HJ parroted BD told DM: just because there is a goalkeeper doesn’t mean you can not score a goal! hahaha! 😀
Point point 😀
“Hee-Jin: The ancestor… the world’s most beautiful woman…”
so this makes me think that Hee-Jin is somehow destined to meet him, because her ancestor is the wold’s most beautiful woman, the refers to Yoon-Wol. and it is Yoon-Wol who gave him the amulet in the first place, plus Yoon-Wol’s intentions of giving him the amulet was to wish it could protects him when she pray at the temple in back in previous episode, so maybe her prayers reach heaven above lol! besides, Yoon-Wol loves him, he indebted to Yoon-Wol for helping him in Joseon, which is the past and he somehow is repaying that debt to Hee-Jin in the present time. So all in all, I believe Hee-Jin and Boong-Do, our couple is fated to be together.
Just to let you know, Hee-Jin spoke in incomplete sentences and it was kind of hard to hear here. We’ll see what she actually said when the episode airs.
yeah true that, we’ll see what she says when the episode actually airs, but I’m just going to hope haha. thank you for the clarification btw!
That would mean
1) YW became an important enough person to be mentioned in the annals
2) Somehow HJ could trace her ancestry back to her
Most beautiful woman in the annals is most likely Lady Chang, right?
I keep wondering whether Min An’s singleminded hatred towards KBD has a background of jealousy in it. It is clearly mentioned that he is partial to YW who is blind in her devotion to KBD. To have his whole family killed, including mother and pregnant? wife takes a special kind of hatred. Or is it just Joseon SOP?
hmm yeah, jealousy is the trigger of all the sins in the dramaworld! Minister is deeply affected by the beauty, intelligence and skills of YW. Plus, YW was BD’s servant, that means: when BD’s whole famile, mother, father, pregnant wife, and himself were killed because of a treason-like capital punishment, so should all the servants in their manor be killed with three generations in Joseon time, at least so is my knowledge from watching lots of other sageuks. By saving BD, Minister Min also saved the lives of YW and HD, although he is definitely not interested in HD, but YW, who later became a gisaeng, approachable for the Minister, who can enjoy her services without having to make any committment to her, making or her concubine or marrying her. So he can enjoy her services without having any responsibilities, but her loyalty to BD and her undying devotion makes the Minister burn with jealousy flames which doubles his desire to get rid of BD because of YW and helping Jang, so he sees BD as his love and political rival. 😀
Actually, seeing how the possession and use if this amulet has gotten Boong-do into a swamp of trouble in his own time makes me think how much he stands to lose if he keeps using it to see/ stay with Hee-jin. It isn’t simply that he leaves behind all that he knows and those he loves/ who love him, it looks increasingly as if he loses all that he was striving for all these years – the reinstatement and honour of the queen, the honour of his own family. Can he live happily with Hee-jin knowing that in the annals of history the Queen, himself and his family will go down as having committed high treason? This is putting aside the question of whether he survives the attacks on him/ punishments meted out. And of ‘fate’.
Such a good point!
Huh? Possession and use of the amulet has ensured that he could engineer the Queen’s reinstatement. Without that he would already be dead and the real Queen would be just as unprotected as she would be with him in 2012. He is too late to save his family, as they have already been executed for high treason. That only leaves him and his future. While there is an allegation of a relationship between him and the Queen, the best thing to do is be scarce, isn’t it? How can hanging around the said Queen allay suspicion regarding their relationship? This is a quandary. Absence is flight, and sign of guilt, presence is a sign of affection.
I may be a little confused, so do help me out if I’m wrong! I thought that, according to the Annals he read in the library, the Queen was going to be reinstated anyway, but that Boong-do would ‘die’ of an illness, and as a traitor. So, his use of the amulet only sped up the process of reinstatement and Minister Min’s punishment, which were going to occur anyway. However, instead of dying a traitor, he regained honour – which I believe would be a big thing for his family name, not just him as a person. But changing ‘fate’ in such a big way surely has consequences, as someone mentioned earlier.
Now that Minister Min knows he is able to ‘disappear’ at will (i don’t think he actually knows where Boong-do goes, but he has guessed how the amulet is ‘activated’), he seems, in the preview, to be going to use this to plot against Boong-do (I’m guessing, but it seems like it, and the mirror scene with Hee-jin and Na-jung seems to suggest this too), with the result that both the Queen and Boong-do will be charged with high treason. I don’t know how our hero will manage this, though I’m sure he will, but my point was that with things the way they are now (which have some connection, even if indirectly, to his use of the amulet), it would be hard for him to settle happily in 2012 with Hee-jin knowing that the purpose for which he fought, and endured, all those years – reinstatement of the Queen and family honour – is naught. I don’t know if it is possible to be happy in a future time with someone you love if your driving purpose in life is unfulfilled and history remembers you and your family as traitors.
For the plot to instigate rumours of adultery between the Queen and Boong-do, I think that’s a ‘damned if you do, and damned if you don’t’ kind of situation. They will accuse him whether or not he is around.
Oof, I’m just so anxious to know how Boong-do and Hee-jin will find happiness together!
Shi, That is a real tough one. The Queen and KBD cannot admit to having been in contact while he was still working for the King (who had dethroned her for treason five years ago). They also cannot explain why they know each other well enough for the Queen to want to speak to him alone. KBDs wife has been dead for five years as well ( I am guessing), there is no good reason for him to reject the proposed marriage unless he is already with someone. If he disappears, he leaves the Queen to face the music. If he turns up, he has to explain where he has been these past few days where it is easy to verify he wasn’t at his home town. Messier and messier.
I’m definitely concerned for BD’s well-beinging (especially b/c of the preview). But more so, what was that narration by HJ at the end of the episode???? “…the end is coming closer.” What end? Please, I dearly hope (fingers crossed and ALL) she means an end to their dating relationship and onto a new beginning i.e. marraige life. I’m worried for the two’s happiness, but after all, going back to episode 1 (=P yes, i re-watched all the episodes more than 100x ^^), the opening scene is of the two racing against time to meet each other. So..the ending has to be good! Right?….
The only part that’s troubling me is HJ’s narration. The first time she does it is in episode 1, where HJ meets BD for the first time. Here, HJ narrates in past tense, as if she’s telling a finished story. Then, we’re re-introduced to her narration in episode 12. Once again, she speaks in past tense. All of her narrations seem to foreshadow a bitter-sweet ending. This is NOT the ending i’m looking forward to =/ The ending MUST be sweet! =D
Yeah. Hearts are gonna bleed if they don’t wrap it up with the two of them together. Anybody know the twitter accounts for the director/writer? I think we better start stalking them.
D: but..but….the summary clearly states that QIM is a rom-com!! i never signed up for no romantic-tragedy!! nnooo……!! Like you said: it MUST be a sweet ending!! meaning BD and HJ ends up together! physically!! And none of those “even though they were apart…their souls were one”-sh*t!!
Always makes me want to go for the nearest baseball bat do some “hulking” when they do that.
101461 hits Joonni! Yay! Congrats!
written preview for ep 13~
“Hee-Jin, who has bought a cellphone for Boong-Do, receives a call from his number unexpectedly on a day not promised. She happily answers but hears unexpected news…”
I wonder the unexpected news is it the call from hospital to inform heejin that boongdo had been admitted to hospital~
It’s about midnight here and i was just watching episode 12. a big smile was still on my face after seeing our hero and his love in that phone cabin…. so i was already about to happily close my laptop when the preview of ep 13 was on…. from one second to the other my smile disappeared and my heart stood still when i saw BD being shot by those arrows T_T…. seriously… how am i supposed to sleep now? :”(
Ps: I LOOOVE your recaps 😀 you’re amazing! I’ve been reading all of them from the very beginning! -^.^-)
…..
but seriously.. HOW am i supposed to fall asleep??? *sigh*
I found the new preview.. I think it was just uploaded, but it is slightly different than the one we saw at the end of episode 12!
Thank so much!
Bung do is hit by an arrow!! where is his talisman??? 😦
