Lee Min Ho and Kim Hee Sun on the set of “Faith”
Photos of Lee Min Ho hanging around casually with a sword sticking out his body on the set of Faith have been revealed. The pictures were taken while Lee Min Ho was resting from shooting a scene in which he gets injured trying to protect King Gongmin of the Goryeo Dynasty. Lee Min Ho plays Choi Young who is a bodyguard of the King and later becomes General Choi.
Kim Hee Sun plays a modern day plastic surgeon named Eun Soo who is kidnapped by Lee Min Ho and brought back 700 years into the Goryeo Dynasty. This photo of Kim Hee Sun was taken during the scene in which her character loses her shoes while running away from enemy soldiers. A spokesperson for the actress said Kim Hee Sun’s red hair is representative of the character’s personality which is described as passionate and courageous. Her hair color also helps solidify the belief among the Goryeo people that she is a “heavenly priestess” since people back then associated the color red with shamans and magic.
I’m getting more excited about this drama so I’m planning to read up on King Gongmin so I can get some background about this drama before I even consider recapping it. King Gongmin seems to be a popular figure in film representations that take place in the Goryeo dynasty. The movie Frozen Flower (Jo In Sung, Joo Jin Mo) was loosely based of the life of King Gongmin as well as the drama Shin Don (2005). I think Faith might be the first drama that is specifically about General Choi, though. Translation of a Goryeo era drama is going to be harder than with a Joseon one so let’s see how my studies go.
