Fun on the Set of “Faith”
It’s great to see a cast get along and have fun behind the scenes of a drama, especially when the drama is on the more serious side.
I was fortunate enough to get my grubby little hands on a Korean morning entertainment show, “Good Morning,” (August 29, 2012) that did a special on “Faith” and it put a huge smile on my face to see everyone having such a fun time filming. So I wanted to share a few things I learned and noticed while watching the show.
Ryu Deok-hwan, the actor who plays Gongmin, was a child actor who has now been in the industry for twenty years. Seems most of the cast was surprised to hear that. So in a interview, when asked what he would be doing if he wasn’t an actor, he replied that he never thought about that. So Lee Min-ho playfully suggested he reply that he was just born to be an actor. Ryu Deok-hwan took his advice :D. And can you believe it? Lee Min-ho and Ryu Deok-hwan are the same age. They speak banmal to each other, from what I can tell from the interview.
Question: You’ve been acting for twenty years. What do you think you would be doing now if you weren’t acting?
Hee-sun, Min-ho, Se-young: REALLY????
Ryu Deok-hwan: Hmm.. haven’t thought about it.
Lee Min-ho: Just say you dreamed of being an actor ever since you were born.
Ryu Deok-hwan turns to interviewer: I was just born to be an actor 😀
Everyone laughs at the very obliging Ryu Deok-hwan.
Love Young and Gongmin relationship!
Another OTP to love! Gongmin and No-gook!
In their press conference, Kim Hee-sun stated that she liked Ryu Deok-hwan, to which he replied, “Sorry but I going to go to Se-young.” Hahahahaha!
Something I noticed was that it seems they did a lot of re-filming for this show. For example, the actor who plays Jo Il-shin, Lee Byung-Joon, seems to have been cast very late. During the BTS of the scene in front of the portal, I noticed another actor in that role.
I know they’ve been working on this drama forever before it actually aired- a lot of reworking the script and problems in the production, I suppose- so that’s why we’ve got scenes and stills of the drama that never show up in the actual drama.
It’s interesting how Jang Bin’s medical abilities have been downgraded from supernatural to just good. He seems to have some sort of supernatural ability when he uses the fan (episode 1) but he doesn’t use it for healing like the screenshot above suggests (and we saw in the initial trailers for the drama).
Kim Hee-sun was full of praises for Lee Min-ho, saying that he is very gentlemanly to her- giving up his seat, worrying about hurting her during all the dragging scenes.
Seems there is so much teasing going on behind the scenes. So cute. Everyone was teasing Lee Min-ho for sleeping so much for the first few episodes of the drama. Philip Lee and Hee-sun suggested that they use another actor with a better body for this scene, since it’s just a shot of Young lying down. Hahahaha!
Then Lee Min-ho complaining the “Good Morning” show came to film them on the day when he has to show some skin. Lol. Min-ho embarrassed by his lack of abs. It’s okay, we understand. You’ve lost over 7kgs during one month of filming!
The interviewer comments that everyone seems to be getting along really well and the atmosphere on the set is really good. Lee Minho replies that everything depends on Kim Hee-sun’s mood. Ha! Kim Hee-sun tries to block his mouth.
It’s always surprising to see Lee Min-ho being such a playful and bright little kid because of the serious roles he plays, and Kim Hee-sun seems to be really friendly and energetic.
Lee Min-ho described Kim Hee-sun as sometimes being like a baby. Kim Hee-sun poking him from the back as revenge.
Hee! An old OTP on the screen again!
Apparently, Ahn Jae-wook agreed to cameo after receiving a phone call from Kim Hee-sun, despite having not heard from her in six years. So sweet of him.
Kim Hee-sun was asked about being called the “Imja” couple. She likes it. Usually it’s associated with older people but to hear it from Lee Min-ho, who’s in his twenties, it’s refreshing.
Lee Min-ho apparently feel asleep during the filming of the kiss/CPR scene and was surprised to wake up and see her hovering over him. LOL. This was said in another vid.
In this vid too, we get another Gongmin-Nogook OTP moment. When asked what they call each other in private, Ryu Deok-hwan said that he jokes around with Park Se-young by continuing in sageuk speech and saying, “Enter the bedroom” (implying you know what ;)). Se-young replied the she simply calls him “sun-bae” (a way to address someone who is older and has more experience than you in an organization or group). Ryu Deok-hwan added that he asked her to just call him husband. 😀
Just sharing again my favorite BTS.
