Just a Little More of “Faith”

Around this time last week, I was waiting anxiously for final week of “Faith.” I can’t believe a week has gone by already because I’m still not ready yet to let go. I’ve been so lucky this year to have four dramas I obsessed about- “Shut Up Flower Boy Band,” “Queen In Hyun’s Man,” “Faith,” and “I Live in Cheongdamdong.” Each time it has been hard to let go but I must say “Faith” is the hardest for me. It has been a long and intense three months and there is still so much I want to think about with “Faith.”

People have asked for “Faith” rehab but how can you ask it from someone who was just as addicted? 😉 So here is a little more “Faith” to help ease the withdrawal step by step.

Faith Episode 17 Making Film

At 0:18 when Ryu Deok-hwan starts talking to the camera, he points to Se-young, saying, “She said she has no strength right now.” He starts to explain, “Se-young did an interview,” but Park Se-young pulls at his arm, whining “Sunbae-nim” and asking him to stop. She doesn’t think he should talk about that now but Ryu Deok-hwan thinks the story is funny. Se-young shakes her head no.

At 0:29, the cameraman remarks, “You love King Gongmin very much.” Se-young replies, “Yes. Of course.” Glaring at Ryu Deok-hwan, she says, “I have to love him forever.” Ryu Deok-hwan points out to the cameraman, “See how she gritted her teeth while saying that.”

At 1:25 Deok-hwan is playfully teasing Se-young, saying that she normally greets him with a casual pat on the arm instead of the small bow she gave just moments before. He thinks she did that just for the camera.

Later in the clip, Kim Hee-sun and Lee Min-ho play “Rocks, paper, scissors” to see who gets the shoulder massage while memorizing the script. Lee Min-ho gets the first massage and at 2:22, Kim Hee-sun comments to the camera that this is something that sixty-year old seniors do for each other.

At 2:27 Lee Min-ho is memorizing his lines when Kim Hee-sun tries to confuse him by feeding him different lines.

I love how happy Hee-sun is when she wins the massage. Adorably squeal-y. I also can’t imagine kissing so many times in front of so many people, especially when the other people’s job is to basically gape at you. Actually, it might be more uncomfortable for the onlookers even if they are professional extras. If I were them, I wouldn’t be able to keep myself from just staring at Lee Min-ho’s kissing technique.

Faith Episode 24 Making Film

At 1:35 the director is assuring Lee Min-ho that he looks good in the beard. Lee Min-ho in return imitates flapping ears which in Korea indicates that he is someone who is easily persuaded by others. I’m assuming that Lee Min-ho wasn’t sure about the look until people kept on telling him he looks okay.

Lee Min-ho then asks to look at the camera screen. He looks and remarks, “I think I have to wear the armor,” implying that he thinks the beard won’t look good until he gets into the more suitable armor instead of the modern clothes he is wearing now.

Faith Last Day of Filming

During Lee Min-ho’s interview starting at 0:22, he thanks the production staff who worked very hard during the six months of filming. He also regards the relationships he made with all the other wonderful actors as precious. He also wants to thank everyone who worked on the drama, as well as the fans. He says, “Thank you,” and bows.

During Kim Hee-sun’s interview starting at 2:02, she says she thought she would feel very relieved after the last scene was shot but she actually feels very sad. Some of staff were crying, which made her more sad. She also says she thought about how difficult it was filming during the hot summer and the past six months passed through her head like a filmstrip.

SBS’s “Open TV Viewer’s World” (November 2, 2012)

This show had a brief section on “Faith” for its finale. I can’t find clips of it online so I’ll just do a very brief recap of the interview and scenes I thought were interesting.

“Faith” was the first time Ryu Deok-hwan had a leading role in a terrestrial station drama. In his brief interview, Ryu Deok-hwan stated that he felt burdened working with masters in their field like Kim Jong-hak and Song Ji-na, as well as taking on the role of King Gongmin. Still he considers himself lucky for taking on such a role and feels that he won’t be able to meet another role or drama project like this one again.

Here is Lee Min-ho giving Ryu Deok-hwan a warm pat on the back on the last day of filming for King Gongmin. I’m going to miss the Gongmin and Young bromance so much.

Park Se-young picked the scene in episode 5 when she goes to argue with King Gongmin as her most memorable scene. She had to practice a lot for that scene because of the dialogue.

Ryu Deok-hwan picked two memorable scenes. The first one was when Gongmin changed out of his Yuan attire to Goryeo robes. The second one was when he comforts Noguk after the miscarriage.

Lee Min-ho picked his most memorable scene as the first time when Young and Eun-soo meet because it was the start and end of their story.

Kim Hee-sun picked every scene and every moment, while laughing 😀

You know the Woodalchi that Eun-soo last talked to at the inn in the final episode? It was a special cameo by the assistant director.

EDIT: Kind readers have shared the video with me. Thank you!

Sigh………………… I miss “Faith.”

It seems Lee Min-ho cut his hair immediately after finishing “Faith.” No more Young to be found but I love how cute he looks. Is it the shortest his hair has ever been? He looks so boyish!

Here is the song that one of our talented “Faith” fan (Sunshine) composed and wrote, and along with another fan (Pam Lee), sang. I’m completely humbled by every fans’ talent, enthusiasm, and love for this blog and “Faith.” Thank you.

Faith Fan-Girling

Faith Fan-Girling 신의 Lyrics
_________________________
Yeah I’m Faith fan girling
Leave me alone
I’m waiting for the live recaps
Can’t answer the phone
Hope no one sees me
Bawling my eyes out
Cause I’m with the fan girls at Joonni’s
Screaming, and Swooning
And trying not to shout

Writer Song we want a happy ending
If you fail rest assured
Ugly emails we’ll be sending

Softy’s fingers are Typing on the fly
Though she’s missing sleep
She’s loved by her peeps
For bringing Faith to us live
We’ve hit refresh a dozen times
To try to get the skinny
On Daejang, Imja, Woodalchis, Baddies
King and Queen-ee

We are in awe of Joonni and Softy’s writings
So insightful and eloquent
But dang our emotions feel spent
Yeah, we’re faith fan girling
We fan girls come from all over the globe
Sharing in our passion for kdrama-faith,
and Lee Min Ho

Lee Min Ho
We love you so
You make our hearts pitter patter
And when you fight, smile, speak or stare
We become like melted butter

Yeah we’re faith fangirling
Please give us a minute
We’re reading about time travel,
Goryeo, and Hwata’s third relic.
Read the forum threads.
Wished the bad guys dead
Watched our favorite scenes
and the in-betweeens
And Read the fan fiction
It’s totally official we’re truly addicted

Our hearts skipped a beat
When their lips did meet
Oh how we’ve waited for that kiss
In case you didn’t notice
We’re kind of obsessed
We went crazy when he grabbed her wrist
Ali’s “Carry On” is stuck in our head
We’re really, really tired and should go to bed.

We are in awe of Joonni and Softy’s writings
So insightful and eloquent
Yeah, we’re faith fan- girling
We fan girls come from all over the globe
Sharing in our passion for the Kdrama,Faith
and Lee Min Ho

We’ve been elated, heart broken and at times full of woe
But that’s the life of a fan-girl, don’t you know?

Many of you have asked about the next drama I plan to recap. I’m still on the search. Seeing that I basically give my all when I recap a drama, I’m going to have to choose wisely. I’ve been considering Park Yoo-chun’s “Missing You,” Park Se-young’s “2013 School,” and Park Shin-hye’s “Flower Boy Next Door.” I’m looking for something less emotionally draining so I’m not sure if “Missing You” is going to be the next one. Looks very weepy.

You guys also asked if I can translate or write something about the deleted scenes from the script of “Faith.” I’ll see what I can do. 😀

Oh, I went on a little trip to a place called the “Rim of the World” and while I was there the phrase “Heaven’s world” came to mind because it basically felt like I was on top of the world.  Hee. “Faith” is with me wherever I go.

For a drama that started off slow and not necessarily promisingly for me, it really took a hold of my heart. While LMH finally impressed me in this drama, it really was KHS and her ES character that took my heart. Now that I’ve watched about 40 or so k-dramas, I find that the one consistent weakness in k-dramas are the female lead characters. They tend to be weak, wishy-washy, dim, bumbling, too nice to be true, push-overs, too self-sacrificing… etc. Some start out promising and then their character tank over the course of the drama. The heroines that stand out in my head as being consistently strong are few and far between. The dramas I love or linger in my mind are the ones that have such female characters – K2H, QIHM, M2F, IDID and now Faith.

Thanks again Ms. Joonni and Ms. Softy of making the whole experience that much better.

    • I fully agree with you on that whole comment. Leading lady must consumed all differential obestial of their character from corkiness to down sentimental. It carries the whole weight of the drama/movie. That’s what drawn my attention to Faith in the first episode and to see how far she will transform herself! She has surpass that ability.

  2. Just wanted to throw out some interesting tidbit about LMH that most Koreans know about cuz it was in the news and other media, but if you google Heukseok Dong M villa, you will find out that Lee Min Ho moved there last year into the same building that Hyun Bin and Jang dong gun lived in. there is a photo of the complex and it’s in the most normal neighborhood far from most other celebrity homes. There is a university right next to it where MGIAG was filmed. Hyun bin moved in there cuz he is best friends with JDG and then LMH moved in. I heard that JDG might have moved out since then, but not sure if it’s true. Either way you can kill two birds with one stone if you ever wanna swing by and see the place up close once hyun bin comes out of the army. Forget trying to get inside though cuz the place has the best security I heard. Fans are always trying to leave gifts or stalk the place, but it’s so remote from anything nice or fun, you will be bored out of your minds. I’m pretty sure that’s why they must have picked that place cuz it’s not a glitzy neighborhood at all. Except for their nice home, everything else about that place is the worst location. Every time I pass the place on my way to KBS or the 63rd building, I keep wondering why they chose to live there. I just find it adorable that Hyun Bin liked JDG so much to move into the same complex. 🙂

Thanks for the reminder…maybe this will be another stop for our Faith fangirls trip to Seoul…hehe. Poor LMH…he doesn’t have a chance against the Joonni’s Faithfuls…we are a determined bunch.

Ooh….love love love that all three of my fave korean actors are all in one place… Now if i could just get kim rae won to live there too before may next year then everything will be perfect hehe…thanks for the tip softy!

      November 6, 2012
    • Thanks for the tidbit, Softy!.

LMH and JDG in one place…OMG! Getting hot in here just thinking about it. I’m not a fan of Hyun Bin, but I sure wouldn’t mind seeing his post army abs…LOL.

I read somewhere that JDG got married and now has a kid, so maybe you’re right about him moving out.

@Pam. I know, Daejang will need the woodalchis to protect him from us gutterbud! haha

my gutter-buddy Gukja, I cannot believe that you are not fan of Hyun Bin!! nooo… I am in total disbelief :O
Did you see him in the dramas: Secret Garden? Worlds Within? Have you watch his movie A Millionaire’s First Love?
I you haven´t watch these dramas/ movie,… you should! These are “must- see” shows. Trust your gutterbuddy on this 😉

Before watching LMH in Faith. I always thought of HB like the most handsome guy 🙂 Now… well, maybe HB is still in my top 1 hehehe, but LMH is pretty close 😛

HB is soon to be discharged from his military service (on December), so I´m looking fwd to his return. yay!

I insist… you should give it a try. Watch these shows 😉

        November 7, 2012
        • Hey gutterbud, Sussie. I know, ME, not a fan of HB…TOTAL SHOCKER! Actually, I have seen the movie ‘A MIllionaire’s First Love’ with LYH. It’s a cute love story and I liked it a lot. I’m probably the only one who haven’t seen Secret Garden. Again, I’m the odd one here, because I do not dig HJW (go ahead…shake your head in disbelief…hee). As for World Within, I saw a few scenes here and there, but it really didn’t grab my attention. Believe it or not, I haven’t seen QIHM (did i get that right?) either. I’m a helpless nut case right now, because I can’t seem to get myself to watch anything unless Daejang’s in it ***sobs sobs****

With that said, I’ll be more than happy to eye those post army abs when your handsome HB returns…LOL!!!

            • Just saw it, gutterbud. WOW. hot hot hot! No joke there. What an intense french kiss that was! I think HB just stretch the definition of a French Kiss into new stratospheres. Never knew HB can take a kiss like that.

Who wants to volunteer to stand in with HB for retake??? **fanning self***

              November 8, 2012
              • Now if I could see Daejang kiss like that in his next project….***swoooing and thuds to the floor***

Gukja, I think if LMH could, he WOULD kiss like that…but the PD is probably like, “Tone it down, dude…keep it PG 13 and try not to look like you’re enjoying it too much”. LOL!

If our MinhO wil do that in his future drama,
that would be the end of my nth life.

And I would try my mightiest to borrow another life form just to crawl back to earth & push the replay button.

haha! gukja i’m going crazy with the story plot of AGD, there are a lot of twists and turns, the moment that you already start giggling and laughing back already then suddenly on the next part you’ll start to bawl again, then laugh then bawl..lolz! so very far from faith, when you bawl in Faith your emotions and energy will totally drain and when you start to giggle and laugh then its like victory! hehe

Softy, I read somewhere that LMH had bought a new home in a location that his mother was more comfortable with. I do not know if this is the place. Do his parents live with him? If so, then this is the reason why he bought this home. It is for his mother.
So do you work at KBS? Does LMH look more handsome in person than on screen? Thanks!

Hi Softy, your comment reminds me so much of my Seoul adventure last May.
Was with family & tried my best to convince them (with our hubby/ kids ) to just “have coffee” in this posh hotel lobby in Gangnam where famous actors often spend their tea time. We ordered & took part of the yummy treats & man, our husbands got so much poorer by the time they paid the bill. So funny!

Yet, not one, not any star or Kdrama actor ever passed by or had tea time or even just went up the classy, glass elevator. That was so much fun yet frustrating. But it was worth always the effort……News of the nxt day confirmed – some big favorite stars had tea, another had meeting, in same lobby only hours after we left. (We cried buckets! But not as much as our husbands did, coz of the price of coffee! 🙂

What are we waiting here for?!!! They probable were so dying of boredom.

Hi Apple Box, did you really visit Sangojae from PT? Is there really a Sanggoejae? I tried to respond above but there was no button to reply to you so I am doing it here.

Hi CallieP – I saw your query above & replied. You got the reply?
          You live in Korea?
          It is in Bukchon.

I live oceans & many nautical miles away from Korea. But for the love of MinHo, I had to go see that place. Weird how I didn’t try to go to BOF or CHunter location shoot which had more impact on than PT.
Maybe I was just so intrigued by the Archi features of Sangoejae that I had to see it.

Think our MinHo was then filming Faith, but we didn’t try to check where the shoot was, for fear of being frisked away as nuisance, LOL.

Apple Box, no I do not live in Korea. I live in the US. I am wondering if the place is really called Sangoejae. I thought Sangoejae is a fictitious place. They just filmed the outside of some home or building and called it Sangoejae. So what is the history behind the building? Was it really built by a famous architect?

The marked slit between the closed doors show the same area or home as the one in PT, like the garden, footsteps, that dramatic/eventful receiving area, …..but I also chanced upon online, the details, floor plans.
Obviously, they shot PT both in and out of that house.

That day we were there, and maybe often, there were people of all ages, taking photos of the house.
I didn’t bother asking anymore whether the place is really called (for real, by the original owners) as such, or if the PT story (about the house) is true.
I was just so excited we could sit or stand by or loiter in some place familiar to MnHo. 🙂
We got to the place based on this colorful map given away free near the area.

              • Wow, you lucky girl. Did you sit in the same spot LMH sat outside and look up at the sky? hehe. I love that house in PT. The architecture of the house “Sang Go Jae” was really interesting.

Thanks Apple and Gukja, is there an English translation to the link. It is the exact house, wow, that was cool being at the exact spot where LMH acted, looks like it must be a tourist spot or historical site for tourist to visit. Wonder about the history of the place. Too bad that I could not find an English translation button to convert the site into English. Really cool location. Would not mind visiting it if I went to Korea.

Sorry, I couldn’t find the English translation for this either.. I thought Google might have translated, but then again, the translation would most likely be convoluted anyway. Translating is not Google’s strongest suit at this point. I, too, would love to visit this house if I’m ever in Korea (after my time with LMH that is…LOL)

Sat, stood by, loitered, hang around….
yes we did, but only outside the closed doors, by the road,
where LMH fought with the former boyfriend of his roommate in PT.
                Recall the steps & road?
where lots of PT eventful evenings proved love does prevail.

                *smiling now*
as I think of the daily weather forecast of LMH ladylike/roommate, remember?
                screenplay of PT is topnotch

  3. Annyeong haseyo, Hello everybody!!! Joonni your comment does not really help me to put back me of my feelings…. My God!! that pleases to see them smiling and we feel this relief after months of shooting and it for our biggest happiness!!:). I sending a mega kiss in all this staff which will have made us vibrate these last months. A special dedicates to Lee Min Ho who I admit it was grand. His acting still improved and frankly, I vibrated with him. Her partner whose I forget a real name, my lovely Eun soo, I found him adorable, a real fun person. Of my small french island, I feel a little bit only sometimes to like Kdramas, but to meet the community of Faith’s fangirls really allowed me to appreciate this drama and strengthened my passion. Thanks to all !!!!! Sarangheyo!!

Joonni, since you said you had not read the article, this is the link http://www.soompi.com/2012/11/01/lee-min-ho-talks-about-ending-faith/

In the article, he does realize that his Choy Young character is special and that he was lucky that he got to play that role. Not sure if he also realizes that he is the first to act in a different kind of love story that I am sure will be the trend from now on. A love story that have attracted a lot of viewers. Hope he knows that Faith was a hit online even though it did not make the ratings hit in S Korea and that he has left behind a trail of Faith addicts suffering strong withdrawal symptoms and gained a wave of new fans.

    • hey Jhen,

It does appear our poor Daejang has been hitting the ground running after Faith ended. Despite him saying that he wants to eat a warm meal and sleep for days..i don’t think he did CY justice in terms of sleeping..haha.

I’m the odd one out here, but this short boyish haircut is not doing it for me:(. Makes him look cute and goofy, yes. Sexy hot Daejang…no!

      November 7, 2012
      • CallieP #

The fact that he is so quick to shed his sexy hot CY looks makes me feel that he can’t wait to get out of character quick enough and I wonder why. He should make hay out of his CY persona. He did that with CH. He had a fan meeting in China with an intro as CH.That was months after CH ended. I thought that they would have some promotions after the series, capitalizing on LMH and KHS. Have Faith fan meetings, etc. However his changing his hair style immediately may make that not possible. It would take a couple of months or so to grow that length again. He could do extensions but still his hair is too short now. He looks cute but he no longer looks like CY. I may be looking too much into it but still as you said Gukja, it is sad, CY seems to be gone from LMH’s life. Time will tell if he goes back as CY for fan meetings or a special. I wonder if he knows how special CY is to fans and he should prolong that character. If he does not in the future, I will know that something is wrong.

        • I agreed with you CallieP..I thot he will remain with Dae Jang’s hair style since FAITH still airing at most of the countries..at least he can wait until sometime..but may be he has his own realistic reason to cut..haaiissh..chinchaaa..!! this Min Ho Darling..!

        • Apple Box #

Yeah CallieP – it does seem to me like our MinHo was so much in a rush to forget CY, forget Faith, shed off that mysterious Daejang presence!
I too wonder why the haste, unless there a a new drama or project requiring this new short hair!

In a way, am sad. Does he know how difficult it is for fans like us to just snap out of Faith kingdom?!
In a flash, our CY is no longer alive – for real & for reel!
I mean, it’s like MinHo just junked the part like….hmmmm…..like, nobody ever fell in love with it!
          But we all did.
Anyway, minhO is still same in my heart. Whatever it is, he has reasons. And I have to be happy for him.

          November 7, 2012
          • Even though I’m not digging LMH”s new short haircut, I could totally understand why he needed to change his image. His Faith hairstyle was probably like his sword, he carried it around with him everywhere for 6 long hardworking months, so that he can give us an outstanding performance as CY. Post Faith, I think it was time for him to put the heavy sword down and to focus 100% towards all the upcoming commitments (like the Trugen fan meeting the other day, the Semir grand opening yesterday and the Bench event on 11/16) he signed up for. His appearance needs to reflect and represent those events. Just my thought…

            • CallieP #

I think his fans would have liked to see a little CY since the show just ended. He could have trimmed his hair to make it less wild but still a little CY like not cut it so short that he no longer looks like CY. He is now just Min Ho. I like his new style too but just wonder about his reason for doing it.

            • chikoku #

Same like you, i do understand why he have to change his hairstyle so quickly. The upcoming project and maybe, bring CY live on the screen become so heavy to him. He loss weight so much (10 kg perhaps),he worked so hard for this drama, because this is a silent drama. Most of love, anger, desperate spoken in silent, just deliver through the eyes, attitude and gesture. And that’s make this drama harder to be played. He just want to release all the burden, and bring his self again, as LMH

And you know, the fastest way to move on is by cutting the hair, based on my own broken heart’s experience. By cutting hair, we can transform to the new person, the new perspective. If you have a broken heart, just try cut your hair as first act to move on.

              • CallieP #

Chikoku, exactly, I am afraid that is the reason why LMH cut his hair so quickly, to move away quickly from CY but does he realize how he made the real CY more famous to non-Koreans? Now there is an interest in the real CY and it is thanks to LMH. He made CY come alive.

I read this post filming interview of Minho where he said something like – now he can put this burden behind him…..this sort of bothers me. Maybe he wasn’t enjoying the filming?
Yet, we know he breathe life into the character CY, par excellence.

But then again, maybe, it is simply the costume, etc., that took its toll on them.

Or maybe it does feel very heavy deep down, to keep on filming, to keep on trying, only to find oneself coping, week after week, with a not so tv good ratings.

The interview somwhow made me feel sad for him, for the cast too, who all did well, did their best!!! They know and we know they deserve better tv ratings.

                November 9, 2012
              • CallieP #

Apple Box, exactly, I read the interview and it gave me the same feelings as you had. Sad that LMH felt a burden. His BTS showed him smiling and happy but he was maybe trying to keep the team spirit alive and keep the mood happy but all the while inside he was feeling the burden of low ratings. I read somewhere previously that stars really do hope their dramas get high ratings in the 30s and are disappointed when that does not occur. I hope Faith will be really successful in sales of DVDs and show sold to many other countries, that they get awards for best couple, actor, actress, drama of the year, etc to make LMH realize that the show did not fail despite the low ratings.

                November 9, 2012
              • chikoku #

Very agree with both of you, Apple Box and CallieP…

It’s so natural that he and all crews expect good result ( in this case, high rating) for their hardwork, but when the result disappointing, it so natural they feel so bad… We as the cyber fans, feel so bad too. Why the Korean’s viewer not see and feel as like we do ?

Faith make hits in many internet forums . There are many talk, speculation and story telling about this drama. But why Faith must suffer low rating ? Because it has many flaws ? For me as common viewer with less critism, just watch and enjoy the show. Despite all the flaws, if a drama able to hit some awareness and give some slice of life, that drama should be appreciate with good rating.

But, based on what happend in my country, many good movies not appreciate enough by the viewer, but when it was played outside, it became hit movies. I hope, LMH and all Faith’s crews realize this. That non-Korean appreciate their hardwork.

I do have hope, that someday, LMH will able to find this blog and read how much we love his struggle to play the Great general of Choi Young. He will smile with a bunch of proud, and know that he already make a legend…

In fairness to Korean TV audience, i think they have their own valid reasons in choosing which drama to watch. Freedom to choose drama reflects TV ratings. Given that, am sure our MinHo understands as well that ratings, good or bad, is part of TV/movie career, something he & his fans just have to live with.

What am worried about is how he will take it personally. After the smashing hit that is CityHunter, after something as roaring big as CityHunter, how will MinHo deal
with such an unexpected setback in TV ratings. Nobody as in nobody (who knew
the jewel that CHunter was when it aired) ever thought Faith would see these low ratings.

Am just hoping MinHo & the rest of HallyuLand will not see the same thing happen to his nxt drama.

This guy’s talent…making everything sexy. He even chews gum sexily! I’m okay with his hair…nothing was as bad as the mullet haircut…ROFL! He flashes his dimples and I can forgive him anything. He does look tired though…poor baby, get some rest, okay?

      • Yes, he’s damn talented! Even his pouting is SEXY!!! Won’t argue about those irresistible dimples. He certainly does seems tired. Looks like he had baggy eyes from one of the picture I saw on FB. Poor daejang..he needs to just shut the world out and sleep/rest for a week!

@gukja: in his trugen fan meeting, his baggy eyes were more revealing..the first time i saw his pics and his haircut, it looks like he just woke up..hehe

@Sussie: his new hairstyle bothers me sometimes..hehehe you are right it really depends on the angle that it may look good on him or not, but anyway, i don’t really put on any more weight on those things..as long as its him that’s wearing that hairstyle, its fine with me, with his heart-shaped lips, his expressive eyes, his dimples and his killer smile everything else goes perfect.. 🙂

I am the only one that do not see this haircut boyish? Ok. Do not misunderstand me… I´m not so into his new look… I prefer much more his last haircut as Daejang (ep 19-24)! But I don´t think it´s so boyish. I must confess that the first time I saw his photos, I thought that again, he looked a little more older than he is… a new haircut giving him a more modern style (btw, he reminded me to Leonardo DiCaprio´s haircut in Blood Diamond).

I think he was so tired of his long hair since you need much more time to take care of it!

This new haircut is a little odd… It depends of the angle, I may like or I may not. hahaha. Sometimes it reminds me a champignon LOL

I believe that soon we will see another haircut since he´s doing a new drama 😉

Funny too, how, in my other post, I compare LMinho to Leonardo DC coz, yeah we all know LMinHo likes him……and it is getting quite more obvious now that Minho acting is getting almost at par (in terms of depth, ESP. in Faith) with Leo, the great. Not to say that Minho isn’t great……Blood diamond, that one, MinhO can do that kind of remarkable acting too. all agree?

Just totally hits home how ridiculously gorgeous LMH is as Choi Young.I mean always found him good-looking, but as Choi Young, he was bone-melting hot.And very cool and sexy swinging and slashing with his sword.

I have a theory that GongMin turned gay when his wife died is because he wanted to be true to her by not having other women but to have his sexual needs satisfied, he turned to men instead but he did not love any of them. So he is not really gay but just trying to stay true to the only woman in his life. Anyway it is just a theory.

Which are your favorite CY expressions?

Some of mine are when ES was running away dressed as a man and when she saw him watching her from a distance. His look was priceless (like what the hell are you up to now, so amused but exasperated as well). Another scene is when he was arrested and they were seaching him. He put his weight on one foot to let them know there was a weapon down there. His action and look was so bad ass and sexy. I still love the close up of his final look at ES, with his beard and tears in his eyes. That look is just so perfect to showing his emotions. He does not look as handsome as he normally is. (He is better beardless) but there is something really indescribly beautiful in that shot. I now have it on my desktop. Another one is when ES puts the flower in his hair, his questioning look is so cute and perfect.

    Favourite expressions of Young:

    1) End of episode 5 (or was it 6?) when Eun Soo looked away when he was captured and forced to kneel. Gosh, LMH played out the whole riotous of emotions – disappointment, desperation, loss of will to live, loss of faith, pain, resignation, surprise from the fact that the woman in front of him could indirectly bring him to his knees and the big “awww, shiiit” realisation that he has feelings for her – superbly and perfectly. I could feel so much for that few seconds that I was pretty stunned myself..ha. His eye expression alone was awesome. That slight, self-mocking smile? Double awesomeness.

    2) The last scene of of him smiling with tears in his eyes when Eun Soo returned is indescribly poignant….and such a memorable end to the drama. Because of that last expression of his, this is the only drama that I wailed through a happy ending.

    3) The scene when Eun Soo ran and hugged him after he escaped from priso and met her at the pavilion. His absolute shock, followed by the sweet, hopeful realisation that his feelings for her are requited.

    4) these three scenes are purely cos LMH was just smoldering in them
    – the epic ending of episode 20 when he backed her against the wall in his room. His sexy grin killed me on the spot.
    – the part where they stared at each other in the dark room, just before she got poisoned the first time. LMH heavily lidded = Rawr
    – their last happy scene in bed just before she returned to the portal. The way his eyes kinda fluttered close as he watch her finger trace his lips. Sexy, sexy.

And when she was chirping away and calling him Daejang, the way he softly drawled while asking her to say Daejang one more time……hot.

Damn LMH for being so hot and talented…. woe to us gals….

“the big awww shiiit realization that he has feelings for her ” “That slight, self-mocking smile? Double awesomeness.”

llana, IKR!!! Until now and since nobody noted about that before (at least I didn´t realize that someone thought about that too), I just kept it to myself since I thought it was my fangirl- mind that wanted me to see that… I ´m so glad that it wasn´t only my foolish idea hehehe
I totally agree with you… at that moment, I felt like he realized she wasn´t anymore just someone he kidnapped, to whom he owe the promise of help her returning to her world safely. After their journey with the little prince, he felt in love for her. Well, that it is what I believe and I want to believe hahaha.

By the way, I also like very much all of the favorites expressions that you listed. 😉 I may add to your list, his expression of concern when her ears were bleeding and… of course, his angry expression when he was confronting the king´s uncle (so hot/sexy when he when pushed him against the wall! and when he released him after he heard him saying “she is your woman, right?)

    • Girls girls girls….it will be way too long if I had to list all my favorite expressions of Daejang. I can’t in all honesty really say that there’s an expression (even the stone face ones) that I don’t adore, cried over, giggle at, fall for, gaga or swoon/thud over. Whenever he’s on screen, his expression(s) would send my emotions flying in one direction or another. All of Daejang’s expressions are adorable, heartbreaking, hot or SWOONWORTHY! LMH’s expressions…hmmm….just PRICELESS. That pretty much sums it up for me!

      November 8, 2012
    • CallieP #

Yeah, I liked all the other expressions that all of you mentioned as well but I wanted to get it going and mentioned the few that is not much noticed but great as well. I do love the part when he was arrested, his range of emotions there was as you described, resignation, surprise, pain, self-mocking, etc. The list grows long.

      November 8, 2012
  14. Ilana #

Sussie….loved that moment when he wiped the blood off her ears too…his half-exasperated, half-worried expression… he totally doesn’t know what to do with her!

Glad you liked the first expression i listed….it’s my absolute favourite because it said so much of the turmoil he was facing inside…i remember thinking at that moment , “Wow, LMH can really act.” Impressive.

And so agree he was smokin’ when he shoved the king’s uncle against the wall with the knife…right after the uncle said “She’s your woman, right”…the furious, but helpless expression in his eyes wa evident. As mentioned, even if it’s just his profile, you could tell how he was feeling…. solid portrayal on LMH’s part..

    November 8, 2012
  15. Ilana #

Christelle…thank the people who made the video 🙂 So much effort and time taken to piece all those scenes together…i admire their dedication!

Ohhh..another fave expression…. after he performed mercy killing to the young king, the split second after Eun Soo backed away from him….the hurt in his eyes…….he looked as if Eun Soo had stabbed him in the heart…ouch.

    November 8, 2012
  16. Sussie #

Ouch… Yeah. That scene was SO SO SO hard to watch for me T_T LMH really managed to portray that feeling very well. I could clearly see and feel his pain…
He was already feeling very very sad with little prince´s death (by his hands)… and the look that ES gave to him was like the finish off (the final death stroke to his heart) Ouch! And those images keep reappearing in his mind 😦

    November 8, 2012
    • I just rewatched that scene again and it’s really heartbreaking. Seconds when he said please, don’t go out, and she disappeared round the bend, not even willing to look at him. His eyes filled with tears and disbelief as she walks away saying “don’t touch me with your dirty hands.” Not to mention the scene where she was dressed in men’s clothing ready to make her journey to heaven’s gate. His expression of totally losing grasp on life and slowly giving up is heart wrenching.

Another fact about the real hostory of Choi Young, and this fact make me more in love to Writer Song on how she connect the history in real and story in the drama. Awsome..

As we know, CY and his wife (Lady Yoo) were buried together. And do you know, after the grass grow for the first time in 1976, since CY was buried, now their graves overgrown with yellow flowers too. Yellow chrysanthemums, just like Lee Yeon Jae (SOAW) said, will be stronger and more beautiful if the weather gets colder. Flowers that grow in the autumn, which persisted through the rigors of summer and the getting more beautiful in the cruel winter. What a symbol to describe the love between our daejang and Eun Soo.. What a grant love story

Based on what i read, An about rough explanation, why our daejang always stay and wait for 3 days at that big tree, the Hebrew belief, those who have died is still possible to live in 3 days, but when they entered the 4th day it meant that person really died. So, maybe our daejang was always waiting for 3 days as in 3 days usually happens something magical. And he hope that magical thing is ES will come back someday and somehow.

I cant get enough… This week feel so long and lonely without Faith

    November 9, 2012
    • Thanks for sharing, chikoku! I love the symbolic of the yellow chrysanthemum in Faith too. To me, it symbolizes CY and ES’s love for each other. For CY, the yellow Chrysanthemum represents ES, who gave him a reason to live. For ES, it represents Young’s pure love for her, which let her experience true love for the first time in her life. It’s 2:30am, so I’m not sure if this make sense…ha.

The 3 days Hebrew belief is very interesting! Well, it certainly was magical for Daejang as ES finally found her warrior at the end.

Writer nim is such a genius. I love Faith and all its faults to pieces:).

        You’re very welcome gukja

where you live, gukja ? USA ? or Europe ? It’s still 7 pm here..

“yellow chrysanthemum,it symbolizes CY and ES’s love for each other” ==> SO AGREE…

Faith introduce me the yellow chrysanthemum as new symbolize pure love, beside roses, jasmine and Edelweiss. What a drama. Teach us many things. Same like you, i love FAITH to pieces !!!

Until now, i keep re-run Faith. And every time I re-watch, i always find something new. That’s what Jooni said, if a drama make you like that, it’s an everlasting drama.

Writer Song and FAITH deserve for awards.. many awards !!!

isn’t it just perfect to stay in love with minHo, come rain or shine, drama or no drama, short or long hair (though I like his long hair, :-((.

I’ve been suffering from MinHo fixation since BOF days, so, you can just imagine how rock bottom I feel every end of his drama…….but I wouldn’t trade this fixation anything.

    • How lovely. Thanks for sharing Chikoku. I love the bit about the mums. It’s amazing how much I discover day after day just by reading comments. It makes the drama much more believable when you tie in facts and story together. With LMH’s and KHS’s great portrayal of CY and ES makes it even better.

      November 9, 2012
      • I read some where that mums represent faithfulness, devotion and particularly yellow mums represent gentle love.

This is interesting! Writer Song is truly amazing. She thought about those yellow flowers since the start! So romantic to think that their graves are overgrown with yellow flowers!!
I am hoping she writes more about Faith in the future. I´m looking fwd to read the novel she said that she was writing… (and I hope they will translated to English too!)

      November 9, 2012
  19. CallieP #

Lidy commented above that she thought no one else could pllay the role of CY besides LMH. I remembered someone else saying that LMH was perfect as the romantic CY but did not have the gravitas to play the warrior CY, he was lightweight as a warrior. that person commented while Faith was still halfway through the series. I wonder if anyone agrees with the second comment after seeing Faith till the end?
Some had thought Kang Ji Wan or Lee Joon Ki would be good as CY. I don’t see that they will be any better than LMH. I saw KJW in Hong Gil Dong and he did not seem too warrior like there. The fight scenes were not that great but that is the fault of directing and editing not LMH. The parts that show LMH doing his own stunts and sword slashing were awesome enough for me. I was sold.

    November 9, 2012
    • Sussie #

Callie, I totally agree with you. The lack/low performance of fighting scenes were definitely not the fault of LMH or his acting skills… that was more a directing issue and that there was no enough time for shooting.
For instance, LMH did a great job with the fighting scenes in City Hunter.

      November 9, 2012
    • LMH owns this role. He portrays CY like no one else can. I, for one, am grateful that LMH ended up playing CY (no disrespect to KJW or LJK) in the end. Plus, LMH and KHS rock together as CY and ES. They made us fall in love HARD with the characters.

      November 10, 2012
  20. CallieP #

The last scene showing bearded LMH wearing his awesome armor. That scene has been bugging me until now. It reminded me of a Western/European heroic figure but I could not place my finger on who it was. Now I realize who LMH reminded me of — Sir Lancelot, the knight in shining armor, of King Arthur and the knights of the round table and Camelot. Anyone else agrees?

    November 9, 2012
    • Sussie #

I understand you completely Callie 😉
You know, I like to read historical-romance books (Julie Garwood´s books for example), and after seeing LMH´s CY… I cannot help myself but to imagine him portraying the heroes of these books too! LOL
I would die to see him performing some of these histories! That will be amazing.

  25. At the risk of repeating can be some thing which was already said. I want emphasize the relation of the characters in this drama which is particularly intense, soft and friendly.
First of all between king Gongnim and CY, a mutual respect and a blin confidence. I loved a lot the actor Ryu Duk Hwan, so soft (and so small ^ _ ^). These debuts as king are awkward but at the same time full of respect to his people. Other relation, always with Gongnim and Noguk. Oh my God so cold at the beginning and so soft and full of romance at the end. A matchless attachment. My favorite scene of course it’s when king comes to comfort her queen with his miscarriage. Waaah I suffered with them.!!.
Other relation CY and woodalchis!!!!!!!!!!! My favorite :Doel Bae :), the guys were openly too cool. Otherwise Eun Soo and CY nothing to say. At the beginning it’s true when there was really no alchemy between these both there, but the progress and of course when we can finally perceive CY’s love for her, there really I congratouate the actors. We could read everything in theeyes of Lee Min Ho. I grow tired not.
Otherwise, I have a question?? The character of Lee Philippe the Royal doctor disappeared well before his death and we don’t have him to show, do you know the reason?? He left the shooting rather than planned or what? It was strange…

          • i hear you, apple box. I, too, have so much work (and also currently out of town for work), but here I am simultaneously working and chatting with the few of you that are here this weekend. Other faithfuls have successfully stayed away. Only the hopeless ones (Apple Box, Gukja, Michelle, Chikoku, Christou, Danijela and a few others) are lurking here. We all need youngspirin on auto-delivery…LOL

Hot Sexy Badass Daejang and his loyal endearing woodalchis are the most irresistible warriors ever! Love them to pieces!

Yep, it doesn’t feel like it’s been 3 weeks since Faith ended, does it?

Judging from track record, I’d fail miserably.

              Post-BOF took months to subside.
              PT too.
              CHunter, twice longer.
              Faith withdrawal will take more,
becuase the connection is more intense,
and he is his own MAN now!

Ouch, am in for the long haul?!?

            • Yes I am still lurking around hoping Joonni or the girls post anything new. I need Younspirin drips attached to me 24/7. I swear I don’t need food to survive. 😛

I am still here just quietly reading all your comments & scouring Faith blogs & sites for comments & fanmade videos of Faith. *Sigh* *It will be a while b4 I can be cured of this addiction* I am glad I can read chinese because over in China people are crazy about Faith & their comments just keep coming.

  27. It’s time for some yummy, sweet pictures of CY and ES.

Look at the way he is staring at her. Making me feel all warm inside. So warm and so sweet.

Remember this scene girls? If daejang leaned forward towards me like that, I would pounce on him and eat him alive.

Melts into a pile of goo.

Ok this wasn’t in the drama and just a fan art but isn’t it simply divine? I would kill, kidnap and time travel to see this scene acted out in Faith. *tries not to look desperate or deprived*

    • Forgot to include this almost kiss scene

      *swoons*

Not wanting to outdo what Jhen has posted earlier, here are a few more pics of the Woodalchis.

Softy, this one’s for you: Deok-man

This one’s for Pam-pam: Dol-bae (w/ Noguk and Suribang kid)

Woodalchi Dol-bae looks hot here, agree?

And we cannot overlook Lady Choi:

Enjoy!! (Still stalking Joonni’s and related Faith-FB sites) 😉

Ooops, the 3rd pic is Woodalchi Jo-suk, not Dol-bae.
