Back and Ready to Roll with “Gu Family Book”

Over the past few months, I would randomly laugh out loud at the thought of how long I have abandoned my blog. This laughter was both of shame and disbelief in how much time had passed since I last posted. It was really a crazy laugh and it belonged to someone who was feeling very unsettled and anxious about making a life changing move and trying to adjust to a new country.
It has taken me longer than expected getting settled in South Korea but finally, I am as settled as I can be at this point. It’s not the perfectly ideal time for me to start recapping a drama, especially with circumstances very different from when I was recapping “Faith” and “Queen In Hyun’s Man,” but I really missed recapping and a Lee Seung Gi drama is hard to pass up. Also, thanks to Softy, I’m all set up electronically to live-cap “Gu Family Book.”
Yes, I will be doing live recaps for Lee Seung Gi’s new drama, “Gu Family Book.” It starts tomorrow, April 8, and it airs Mondays and Tuesdays. As they are live recaps, they will be different from what I did for “Queen In Hyun’s Man” and “Faith.” Like the way Softy does her live transcaps, I will recap as much as I can while I am watching live, and then continue to update after I download the video and rewatch. Another thing that will be different from my previous recaps will be that I won’t be spending nine hours on them. I have a strict schedule so I need to stop updating the recap after three hours and go to sleep. In effect, they won’t look as nice or as complete as my other drama recaps but I have come to peace with that and I hope you guys also understand. Bear with me as I navigate this new world of live recapping in South Korea.
So there is no confusion, I want to clarify that I am recapping this by myself. For some reason, I think there are readers out there who think Softy and I will be recapping “Gu Family Book” together but I am working on this alone. Although in spirit, Softy will be there to support me. She is really the most helpful person out there.
So yay! Recapping! Live! Gu Family Book! My baby Lee Seung Gi! Sung Joon! Whee!!!!!!
F.Y.I, I will definitely be recapping “Heirs” with Lee Min Ho and Park Shin Hye. Of course. Of course!
OMG!!! I was just wondering if you’re going to cover this show, and you are!!! Yipeeeeeeeeee
Welcome back! 😀 😀 😀
So happy you and Softy are going to recap this show and Heirs.
*Note to self* Must read the entire article before posting. Well, I’m still happy you are back recapping!
Looking forward to reading your and Softy’s separate live recaps. It will be fun.
I am so happy to see you are getting back into the swing of things your way. Looking forward to sharing your new adventures in live recapping! LOL
Hi, Joonni! Welcome back to blogging! Your recaps and insights have been sorely missed. Definitely looking forward to reading your live-caps. You are a savior (and drama addict enabler) as always. Seung-gi and Suzy! Also, LEE MIN-HO! Gutterbuds are gonna be back in action soon too. I can already hear the collective squeeing of fan girls the world over. 😀
Present! Hi Kristine! 🙂 Its good to see you here again. It seems that the rest of the gutterbuds are already back in action. Aye!!!
doesnt recapping get too tiring? Why not just do reviews
Hi Joonni, I’m so happy to hear about you 🙂 Hope that you are doing well in your new home. Wish you the best.
Wanted to say: PRESENT! I ‘ll be on board too following your recaps 😉 I’ m so happy and anxious to watch LSG and Suzy’s new drama. Putting aside the fact that i love both of them.. The plot sounds really interesting… It reminds me inuyasha. Also, I love that it seems that the leading lady will be a figther!! So… I’m totally on board this ship 😀 Hoping that lot of ours friends’ll come too.
Hello sussie, i’ll be there!! I’m ready!! loool

Glad to hear you are somewhat settled. If you are ready to take on the monumental task of a new drama, at least we know you know where the coffee is!!
Wonderful!!!!!! We are looking forward!
YAY! YOU ARE BACK! YOU ARE BACK YOU ARE BACK! *clings to everyone* I have missed you.
Im tentatively hopeful about this drama. This year so far has not been a good drama year so I am…reserved….but it has Suzy and My Tall Puppy and Seungi in it so I am there.
*gets popcorn ready*
Hi Onichick!!! Its been a while. 🙂 How have you been? 🙂
Be really really busy *Sobs* but alright. Been watching Gods Quiz recently for my love of Gongmin. How are you sweetie?
Same with you, I am also busy as a bee but I always finds time for my K-drama and fan girling with the rest of the gutterbuds. 🙂 I am watching You’re the Best Lee Soon Shin (good luck to me coz its a 50 episodes family drama) 😛
Im watching that too! And A Hundred Year Inheritance….(Hmmm Lee Jungjin) and Nine.
Im excited to have a new drama to spaz with everyone with!
I put bookmark your site because I love your recaps and I can’t wait for this drama it looks good
Sorry I have to edit and I can’t delete it, I am so ashamed… I wrote something and I didn’t delete a word and it sounds horrible…
I bookmarked your blog because I love your recaps and I can’t wait for this drama it looks good,
Hello Joonni!! That made for a long time!!. I am delighted to read to you and happy to be able to relive a kdrama together. The problem it is because this series is not broadcasted yet from on my side. So, As for Lee min ho and Park shin hye, I also wait for them. They have already played together, but there they are more professional and more mature thus it risks to be nice . Fighting joonni in your new life! In made you lived in Seoul or somewhere else?
Hi Christou! Its good to hear from you again. 🙂
Me too!! ^_^
Joonni, I AM SO happy, and SO grateful, KAMSAHAMNIDA sonsenjim :), I am jumping up and down here in my SF apartment, happy happy happy. Omo 20 weeks of fun. SO happy 🙂

Agnes
Check dramabeans for good recap of arang and magistrate . One of my favorite dramas. Good chemistry with LJG and SMA! Creepy and funny and sad all together.
Hi Millie,
Yes it’s definitely good! I love the chemistry Eun Oh and Arang also Bang-Wool and Dol-Swe, it’s brighten up the story 🙂 thank you for your info, i’ll have a look on dramabeans for another source of recaps.. Had you watch The Great Seer? what do you think? After watching Faith with LMh as the Choi Young, saw another Choi Young made me lose my eager to watch the drama, guess i set my own standard for Choi Young haha..

Welcome back, Jooni!
Since you’ve been gone I’ve watched “The Winter That Wind Blows” which was excellent. I am now watching” Nine Times Travel” which is very good, and I just started to watch “When a Man Loves” which looks very promising. Perhaps you would like those also. Looking forward to watch “Heirs”
Hi Joonni, so glad to hear from you..you don’t know how much we’ve missed you. I’m sure everyone’s opinion is different from my own, but for me it’s like ” letting your oldest son experience life without a safety net..”like.. Mom”!!
I assure you, it wasn’t easy for me for the last 2 yrs.., still copping with the idea. But, I keep my self busy w/ my youngest son around.
Your entitle to have a life..like everyone in this world. My love of Kdrama hasn’t changed a bit since ’07, but last year was more active in comments & watching. Because, my friend Geri introduced me to your very first recapped .
“Queen In Hyun’s Man”. The rest is history for following you or Softy.
But, I managed to multi-task my passioned which is love of Movie/Dramas..then mix it in with family /business /tennis & my insane multi-attitudes…( even though I’m not a gemini ! ).
If you ask me..how I do it..I just do it??!! No question ask..why/where & so on? No time to analyzed my life! I only do that in movie or drama’s.
Kdrama & shooting has been a balance w/ my reality..I wouldn’t ask for anything different.
I really look forward to your insight of the drama, though I’ve seen only 1 or 2 preview’s.
Welcome back…
Conjie

I am happy as others to know that you are coming back to recapping. Your insight is a blessing! Good luck with your new home!
Yay you’re back!!!! Welcome back! So excited to see that Gu Family seems to been universally liked since I really wanted another crack-drama. The 1st ep was so awesome I can’t wait to watch 2!
Joonni,
This is fantastic news. Great to have you back recaping. Thank you, we are so lucky. I’m also happy to hear that you are more setttled in your new home. Hope that things are going well for you. And super excited to hear that you will be recaping Heirs (yesssssssssssssssssssss!!!). Take care.
Saludos y abrazos 🙂
Joonni – I read that you’re also watching Nine and The End of the World. Excellent choices!
Nine is incredible!!! So interesting and completely different from other time-travel shows. Ep. 1&2 were a little show for me, but it picked up steam from Ep. 3 onward.
The End of the World is slowly being subbed. Only two episodes are subbed so far. I would love to read what you have to say about this show. Mister X is really impressed with that show, but my taste in dramas is not that sophisticated, so I’m not sure if I can handle all the medical lingo and stuff.
I’m also watching JOJ, which is surprisingly interesting. I haven’t seen previous versions of Jang Hee Bin, so no expectation with this show. Really like the way the writer creates layers for these characters.
