Today was one of those days when it feels like Thursday already. Eyes heavy with sleep, shoulders slouched under the stress, weather dreary and wet. Then I saw it. Lee Minho in a blue baseball tee, sporting a clean, short hair style. It was look I’ve never seen him in before in any of his dramas. My eyes shot wide open and I sat up straighter. (Alas, the weather did not change.)

Lee Minho plays the role of Kim Tan, the heir of the Empire conglomerate. There is no official website or description yet, but the press releases describe him as a character that has everything he can ever want. Alas, he also has a tragic past. But what is a drama hero without some scar festering in his heart?
Our female lead Park Shin Hye. Her character is described as plucky (of course), who unfortunately is an heir to poverty. Ha! Our heroine’s name is Cha Eun Sang, and I swear, there are so many K-drama females with “Eun” in their name. Have you guys noticed? I happen to love names with “Eun,” actually.
Stills from the first script reading where we can catch a glimpse of Kim Woo Bin(!), Choi Jin Hyuk(!), Kang Ha Neul(!), Krystal, Kang Min Hyuk(!), Park Hyung Sik, Kim Sung Ryung, Yoon Son Ha, Choi Won Yong, Im Joo Eun, Choi Jin Ho, Jeon Soo Jin, Kim Mi Kyung (Lady Choi!), Park Joon Geum (“Secret Garden” Joo Won’s mom), and Jung Dong Hwan. So not everyone is in the stills but that is the cast list so far. I’m very happy to be seeing Lady Choi again and hope that she will have a lot of scenes with Lee Minho again since she plays Park Shin Hye’s mom.
I know some people are wondering why Lee Minho went back to playing a high schooler when he has played such mature characters for his past three dramas. I was initially surprised first, but on second thought, I understood his decision. You’ve gotta play the teens now before you’re in your 30s. Also, visually, I am happy to see him in more casual and brighter clothing. Choi Young lays so heavily in my heart so I am looking forward to Lee Minho playing a lighter character.
“The Heirs” is going to air Wednesday-Thursday starting October 9 after “Master’s Sun” finishes its run. You guys know that Softy is recapping that drama at Soompi, right? I don’t get to catch every episode, but love what I have seen so far. One good drama after another (hopefully)! D-29!

Oh well, here we go again… but I must say I’m not so happy about this. I wanted a lighter character but NO a high schooler, it has no sense when there are so many options to choose. And, the worst thing: it seems to be BOF reloaded (without the perm hair, thanks God!). Well, let’s hope the choice was really his wish, sometimes I’m not so sure about it.

Kim Eun Sook has her good and bad points so I can’t say I trust her to deliver 100% of the time, but I still can’t keep down my excitement. I think it’s because it has been a very long since I’ve been excited about a drama.
You know, I’ve read the synopsis, or better to say the beginning of the story, of “The Heirs”, and I gotta say that I’m feeling more optimistic about it now. I like the fact that both of them are “broken”, and that they sorta burnt the bridges behind them, etc. It’s interesting. So, I’m not as down about it as I was before 🙂

Story doesn’t catch my attention. It’s too Cinderella-ish, too reminiscent of BOF.
I hope though that they do something original with the premise, since they have quite a promising cast.

No unfortunately I didn’t, CallieP. Tickets ran out. 😦 The venue was really small. Don’t really know why they didn’t pick a bigger place.
Michelle, thanks for the reply. That is not what I heard. Someone who attended the concert said that there were many empty seats. At the last week, in order to sell the tickets they offered a photo together with LMH with the purchase of a ticket. This offer was only for last minute ticket buyers. Also if you already bought a ticket but could get someone else to purchase a ticket, both would get a photo op with LMH.
Yes, the venue KWS was not in an upscale location. It was partially open air and it seems LMH was sweating profusely but he was as usual a gentleman. The promoter did a poor job in advertising his concert.
Really?!?!? oh no!!! I wanted the cheaper tickets but only left was the expensive ones. None of my friends wanted to come along. I know it’s a lame excuse from me but I feel fangirling alone is no fun. Yea, I didn’t see any advertisements anywhere apart from LMH’s fansite on Facebook.
I guess Starhaus will be employing a different event organiser for his future concerts.

You will both be recapping “Heirs” as you did in Faith, correct? Looking forward to it. You both rock.
I am still not ready to leave Faith yet. I would like your and Softy’s feedback about the Seoul International Drama Awards. I remember Softy’s opinion about Faith and why she thought it was a bit hit, etc. especially with the international committee. I know critics and the Korean population did not really dig Faith because of the low ratings but internationally, it was different. With the thousands of pages on Soompi and the hundreds of You Tube fan art and videos, etc. Even the likes on the Seoul Drama Awards web page was very high. I had high hopes for it. However when it came to the finalists, Faith was not even selected. LMH was nowhere. How can Big, Dr. Jin, Fashion King make it in the finalists instead??? Gu Family book wasn’t even in the initial nominations because it should really be for 2014 not 2013 but it made it in the final list. And the winner- Arang & Lee Jun Ki. I don’t get it? How did that happen? I had hoped this award would finally show that Faith was beloved internationally. Finally Faith would get the recognition it deserved. Now this will never happen. This was the last event for 2013. In fact Faith in embroiled in one bad event after another. The law suit, the director’s suicide. No DVD release in Korea. The only one you can find is the Malaysian version and maybe Japan. The list goes on. No wonder Lee Min Ho wants to forget it. He even admitted it in a Japanese interview. He said that he never thought he would return to the filming site because it had been very difficult so his memories of the site were not great.
As for the People’s Choice award, I think LMH came second behind Yun Jun Ho or third behind Yun Jun Ho and Lee Jun Ki. How could Yun Jun Ho over take LMH? I never even heard of him until the People’s Choice voting. He wasn’t the lead in any drama. Seems he was second lead in Queen of Ambition.
Joonni and Softy can you help make some sense of this? I am still upset and need your opinion. Thank you so much in advance.
My experience after years of watching awards ceremonies in South Korea is that there are a lot of politics. I started to realize some years ago that there were so many winners that nobody could understand why they won and that a lot of winners were winners because they could attend the show. KBS, MBC, SBS like to push their own dramas when they have rights to air the show, etc, etc. Also, I remember some actor hinting somewhere that he won because he was the only one who could come to the award show. Fan voting can totally affect the results, etc etc. The thing with Seoul Drama awards, reading from the announcement, is that 30% of the decision came from the SDA committee, meaning they can influence the results, no? Also, the dramas needed to have been exported to more than fifteen countries or making more than $3 million through exports in the past year. I don’t think Faith was able to do that. As for Jung Yunho, you may not have known him but he is hugely popular worldwide as a member of the idol group DBSK. In fact, DBSK (when they were five members) is my favorite group. No worries, I have no fantasies about Yunho’s acting (and he is not my favorite DBSK member). He won through fan votes and there are a lot of Yunho fans. Lee Jun Ki is also hugely popular too. It’s just hard to see it when we have our biases. Lee Min Ho is popular overseas but he is less popular than he used to be in Korea itself so votes from Korea were probably not as high as others.
Don’t be upset CallieP. Sometimes the stars align and our favorite dramas or stars win, but most of the time, they don’t.

I am excited about Heirs. Well it’s bittersweet since I am watching Master’s Sun right now and that drama is just awesome. Lady Choi is So Ji Sub’s aunt in this one, so I get 2 dramas in a row with her? SBS is the best station ever!
While I am LMH biased, I also a soft spot for Kim Woo Bin. I will cry for days if he’s left alone by the end of the drama.

I agree with you. Let’s hope his agency lets him focus in acting but as long as fans keep on asking such activities from him they won’t let go the chance to make more money. I’m 100% sure this record and tour was Starhaus’ idea and some events make me think he even didn’t know about their plans until beginning of this year when he had to reject a movie role to start recording and rehearsing.
Yes. I was just talking to my hubs and we both agree his acting is tops compared to his other “talents”. Instead of trying to make more money out of him, I pray Starhaus doesn’t over-squeeze him but rather encourage him to making himself a future international star.

Friends 2. It was offered to him, but his agency rejected because of another plans; those plans turned to be the album and tour. At the end Kim Woo Bin got the role and he was very happy with it. The movie is going to be in movie theaters at the end of the year.

Omo omo omo, thanks to Michelle I finally found way home, what was I thinking, being lost for sooooooooo long? I am a nutcase, that is the only explanation possible. OMo, omo omo, so we met up, Conjie, K love and I, of course our precious Jhen was supplying us information and CallieP and Gukja, were cheering us up as well as uri FilchiNY and WendyM, Sussie, Noonski, did I miss anyone? Anyhow, we went hunting down for uri precious LMH and the filming crue. I will write up a much longer post later, but after 7 hours of driving around we never found them and went instead to eat some good old Korean food to drown our sorrows.
BUT WAIT!!!!! There is always a NEW DAY, so literally next day we get a message from Conjie that they are filming at Huntington beach, so what are three devotees to do, but rearrange our lives and drive over to Huntington beach. Omo WE FOUND THEM and feasted our eyes on our beautiful LMH for hours. Now, it has to be said there were quite a few people there who told us to buzz off with our cameras, but we still got few pictures. Will send them along.
