After reading these character descriptions, I am even more excited. Eun-Oh, the character that Lee Junki is playing, is not what I expected from the original short taglines.
Interestingly, English translations of the main character descriptions were already available at the official website. The translations are clunky but they could be worse.
According to the description, Eun-Oh always had the ability to see ghosts. Now that puts an interesting twist to the character. I thought he would start off as a flat character whose life suddenly gets turned upside down by the ability to see Arang. I expected the polar opposite type of OTP- one’s unruly while the other’s an uptight; one’s a ghost while the other’s a human. But I guess both our hero and heroine are on same end of the supernatural spectrum. Cool.
Also, Eun-Oh is originally a wanderer who becomes a magistrate because of Arang. This OTP already sounds so full of win.
It sounds like he is going to get more evil as the story proceeds. If he’s been hiding it all this time, it’s going to all come out into the open with the appearance of Arang. Let’s hope he is a little bit more interesting than just plain evil.
*not translating the descriptions word for word.
Bang-Wool-ee sounds hilarious. She has some inkling of supernatural power but for the most part, she has to lie for a living. She prays for a spirit to be sent to her, only to be sent the unwieldy Arang. Now she fully comprehends the meaning of “Be careful what you wish for.”
He’s going to warm our hearts with bromance and loyalty!
Heavenly Jade Emperor
Now his character description is hilarious. Literally, he is described as a “sexy” leader. His interests include women, peaches, art, and gambling. Some people describe him as a “perverted old man” but he exudes charisma when needed. Oh god, it’s going to be so funny watching Yoo Seung Ho ogling women.
A completely expressionless and emotionless being. Interestingly, while he is the King of the Underworld’s right-hand man, the Reaper is also a friend and subordinate of the Jade Emperor. A peculiar dynamic that is sure to produce some awkward situations and conflict of interests. I’m loving the fact that even the Reaper is getting character flesh.
The King of the Underworld
This drama is going to have bme bent over laughing. Rumor has it the King of the Underworld is fraternal twins with the Jade Emperor. He also has a inferiority complex regarding his brother and desperately wants to win a bet against him. He also is a “follow to the letter” kind of guy, which means his libertine brother is a thorn on his side.
He is Choi Joo-Wal’s adoptive father. He adopted Joo-Wal as a favor to a shaman. Interesting. Does Joo-Wal also have some supernatural power? Lord Choi doesn’t really like Joo-Wal so I’m sure there is going to a “son desperate to get his father’s approval” storyline. I’m hoping he doesn’t make it to my “Most Hated K-drama Fathers” list.
Here’s the latest teaser with some new scenes.
Also here are some gorgeous wallpapers. Gosh, I’m so excited for this drama.
